According to the Game Awards, it Takes Two is the Game of the Year 2021. This game could be made into a movie or TV show through a partnership between Hazelight Entertainment and dj2 entertainment.

Variety reports include an exclusive story from the companies. It takes Two’sstory about marriage woes, and cooperative platformer is the latest videogame property dj2 Entertainment has signed a deal for.

Josef Fares, Hazelight’s founder and creative director, stated that “It Takes Two” was an excellent experience for him and his team. Variety also received a statement from Fares. It has a strong story with many wild characters and equally crazy co-op actions moments. This makes it a huge potential for adaptation to television or film.

This means It takes Two is currently on the market for a TV adaptation or movie adaptation. However, it has not yet secured a deal with a studio. The next step for dj2 Entertainment is to market it to interested buyers. If someone has the money to make the movie/show happen, all parties can move on to the next stage. Other projects that dj2 Entertainment is involved in include the Life is StrangeTV Series and the Sonic the Hedgehog movie.

Dmitri Johnson, CEO of dj2, said that he was honoured to work with Josef and Oskar [Wolontis], as well as the fantastic team at Hazelight Studios for the linear media adaptations of ‘It Takes Two. “We fell in love with Cody and May, Rose and Dr Hakim just like everyone else in the gaming industry. We can’t wait for these characters (and the entire fantasy world) to come to life on the big screen.

I just finished It takes Two after its Game of the year win at the 2021 Game Awards. After it had been sitting on my PlayStation 5 for months, finally, I was able to get down and play the game. The cooperative play was great, and each level’s mechanics varied. Given the mixed reception to the story beats, I wonder how the TV or movie will receive it. While I found the portrayal of an estranged couple being forced to enter the video game equivalent for marriage counselling more appealing, others feel that the Game presents too optimistic a view of why people end up breaking apart. We’ll see how that plays out for new audiences…
