Quarterly Update for Diablo 4 – Blizzard releases the most recent news about the game’s progress
It seems like yesterday, yesterday. We talked about the last Diablo 4 Quarterly Update, and then we wake to another installment in all that is good in the Diablo 4 Development World.
The October Quarterly Update focused heavily on Diablo 4’s sound design, the latest dives into visual effects and items.
What’s in the December 2021 quarterly update of Diablo 4?
This update from Blizzard says: “Lead systems designer Joe Piepiora discusses changes to key elements in itemization. These include the return to +Skills items, a new way of interacting with legendary powers, and early work on targeted drops. As he takes us through Diablo IV’s new character growth system, the Paragon Board, we can grab a cup of coffee and sit down.
Next, Daniel Briggs, the Lead Visual Effects Artist, will discuss the philosophy that allows our talented VFX artists to create massive explosions and eye-popping skills effects while keeping it clear and readable even when multiple players and monsters. He will also discuss how Diablo IV’s updated game engine has made frame-by-frame combat easier and more nuanced while enhancing our effects to take full advantage of the new lighting system.
Although the quarterly update can be a long read, it’s well worth the effort. It also includes all video updates that provide an in-depth overview of the game’s current state.
