Stardew Valley joins forces with Studio Ghibli in this stunning 2024 release!
So much gaming to come this year is already making my gaming backlog shrink – in particular Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, Tekken 8 Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Star Wars Outlaws Dragon’s Dogma 2 The Last of Us Remastered Rise of Ronin Princess Peach Showtime are just a few titles currently scheduled for release!
Tales of Seikyu is an engaging open world fantasy sim being developed and published by Ace Entertainment that will entice fans of both Stardew Valley and Studio Ghibli’s works, offering stunning landscapes and fantastical creatures reminiscent of Studio Ghibli works such as Laputa: an open world fantasy sim developed for PC. At its core lies Tales of Seikyu as an open farming sim but one with unique mechanics – need water your crops? Become a water blob; want to clear some land? Become a bull to do just that.
“Tales of Seikyu is an epic farming sim adventure game set in an idyllic fantasy land called Seikyu. Home to legendary creatures from yokai legend, its town bustles with unique inhabitants such as Lord Kyubi, Shuten-doji (a bar owner renowned for being perpetually drunk) Yoji (an eccentric folklorist with strong views about ancient gods and an irrepressibly rebellious streak), Otter Andolini a former mafia boss now appreciating peace at his beloved dock).
“You and Kon arrive in Seikyu with your savings to buy a house in the countryside of Seikyu using shape shifting technology, thus beginning your comfortable pastoral life,” reads Tales of Seikyu’s opening paragraphs. I am intrigued by its shape-shifting element as I believe this will set it apart from other farming sims – plus its 30 unique characters who offer stories worth diving into – I can’t wait for my chance at engaging with this tale of Seikyu!
Best of all, Tales of Seikyu can be played cooperatively – after all, everything’s better when shared! No exact release date has been given but Kickstarter plans on releasing it on 12 January 2024; make sure you stay up to date. It is definitely one to keep an eye out for.
