January heralds not only a new year but also offers PlayStation Plus subscribers new titles to download for download.
One of the games included is A Plague Tale: Requiem, the highly acclaimed stealth adventure sequel to its original predecessor A Plague Tale: Innocence. Here a brother and sister pair must survive while trying to avoid danger in a world ravaged by rats carrying plague across its streets and villages – although anyone fearful of rats should probably avoid playing.
On release, A Plague Tale: Requiem was widely well received, earning praise across the board from reviews to players alike. Players often felt an instantaneous bond to this game due to its blend of stealth sections with beautiful cutscenes depicting life’s turmoils as well as thrilling armed guard encounters or rats on screen creating lots of tension for all concerned.
Back in October 2022, we highlighted A Plague Tale: Requiem as being “an absolute masterpiece in audio design and photorealism utilized to an enchanting and haunting degree”. PlayStation Plus subscribers are eligible to download and keep Requiem free forever; its story follows up on events seen in its predecessor (though both games make for excellent experiences!). Played the original or not (you should seek it out first!), Requiem stands on its own as being great entertainment value as well.
At first glance, both games are worth playing solely because of the rats. Even those most indifferent may become afraid when faced with thousands of rats running amok and trying to kill anyone who crosses their path – not simply spreading disease but acting as powerful antagonists throughout.
