Survival games are at their zenith right now. As an ever-so-versatile genre, Survival never seems to go out of fashion; its mechanics lend itself perfectly to matching any theme imaginable – from Vikings and Goth mysteries, all the way down to sci fi thrillers – creating a satisfying gaming experience for many players today.

Enshrouded gives off the impression of being an amalgamation of Elden Ring with its exploration, Minecraft with crafting and survival elements, but with some elements from Valheim due to voxel graphics thrown in for good measure.

Enshrouded will soon be in early access on Steam as a survival-adventure game starring “You are Flameborn, last hope of an endangered race. Awaken from deep within its darkness to fight off terror caused by corrupt fogs enveloping you & restore beauty back into your kingdom!”

Survival game players know this gameplay loop well – beginning their adventure without even clothing on your back and scraping through a lost kingdom in search of tools, weapons, shelter, weapons and all sorts of supplies to survive in their new environment. While starting from nothing is often daunting at the start of survival games, any fan can adapt quickly once immersed. “To survive you must scour its remains while dodging beasts that hunger for human flesh – creating weapons, tools, houses furniture equipment to survive this new world and fight off beasts that seek your flesh!” says some game blurb about its opening lines about this scenario – something all survival fans already understand well when starting from nothing is necessary if playing through its opening chapters a second time through. “To survive this new world you must craft everything necessary in order to exist here a game like no other.

Enshrouded features multiple biomes to explore where various materials will become accessible, but what truly sets it apart from other survival games is its deep combat system: battles are typically brutal affairs that necessitate you utilizing skills you acquire by defeating smaller enemies on your journey towards bosses.

I know I will add this game to my wishlist; its stunning voxel graphics, moody lighting, and monstrous-looking enemies make an impressionful first impression; plus any game which allows us to carve out our own identities in this vast, open world is definitely acceptable in my eyes!
