After a long-running investigation regarding workplace misdeeds, It has been reported that five former executives of French gaming giant Ubisoft were detained and placed in custody. The arrests came after several allegations of assault and harassment during their time at Ubisoft, a gaming company.

Some of those arrested by the police among those detained by police are former VP of Editorial as well as creative services Tommy Francois and former chief creative officer Serge Hascoet, both of whom were involved in several accusations that led to their departure from the business at the end of 2020.

Ex- Ubisoft executives are currently in police detention.

The prosecutor’s office in Bobigny, Paris, handles the investigation, as stated in The French magazine Liberation, in which around 50 active and former employees testified. It comes following that the Solidaires Informatique union and two victims filed a series of complaints about harassment and assault. The attorney for the complainant, Maude Beckers, told The Publication that the inquiry “reveals systemic sexual violence.”

Despite the co-founders and the chief executive officer of Ubisoft vowing to make optimistic modifications after the initial accusations that resulted in Hascoet and Francois being dismissed from the company, there was a sense that Ubisoft was trying to get over the toxic workplace that existed within the company’s staff.

Ubisoft is the creator of many of the most famous game franchises, including titles like Assassin’s Creed, Watch Dogs, and Far Cry, just to list a few. The company has not made any official statements. Released by the company; however, they have claimed they do not know about the information disclosed, and they aren’t at a point to make any comments in the manner they said to IGN.

It is a susceptible issue, and there is a high likelihood that Ubisoft will comment on the claims because all eyes will be focused on the gaming giant’s ability to implement some radical and significant changes.
