Zelda Tears of the Kingdom: How to befriend dogs

Although dogs aren’t Link in the Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom’s closest friend, you will want to be friends with them if you plan to find some hidden treasure.

You can find dogs all over Hyrule. However, the most notable place to see them is at Stables. This is also where you register and rest your horses.

You’ll need to feed dogs to make them friendly. We’ve found that dogs aren’t picky about food. They’ll eat almost anything with a heart symbol next to it. They were given meat because we thought it was their due for being such good boys.

Press +, then L or R to get to the food section. Then, release the food from your hands. Toss the food to a dog by pressing A. They will then eat it. They will either lead you on a treasure hunt or follow you briefly after showing a “hearts” “emoji”. They won’t take you anywhere if there is no treasure in the area.

There’s currently a bug that prevents the dog from following you when you are trying to complete the Misko’s Cave of Chests quest.

We regret to tell you, you can’t pet the dog. The best game ever? Perhaps not.

The Legend of Zelda – Tears of the Kingdom Switch is now available.
