New Mortal Kombat announces itself with an elegant teaser trailer

Time truly does fly; four years have come and gone since Mortal Kombat 11 first hit shelves back in 2019. Since NetherRealm Studios released Mortal Kombat 11 last April, we owe ourselves an update as to where NetherRealm’s fighting franchise stands now.

Mortal Kombat 11 recently made headlines when Hogwarts Legacy adverts suddenly appeared within its player base – prompting some players to brand them “shameful”. More importantly, fans want an answer as to the status of Mortal Kombat 12, knowing it exists already; Warner Bros. even referenced it during an earnings call with investors back in February and offered potential release window estimates.

There was much more in store, such as Mortal Kombat 12 and Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League being scheduled to come out later in 2018. These games both boast ambitious launch projections for 2023; I will not comment further on Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League due to the overwhelming reactions it received at its State of Play reveal last month.

Eurogamer reports another exciting tease from NetherRealm Studios; their clock counting-down trailer is far more tantalizing. After hitting 11 on the clock face, however, its hands glitched forwards to one. This latest reveal offers us even greater hope that Mortal Kombat 12 may finally arrive soon!

Correlation. Many have taken notice of what could be an impending reboot with Kronika’s time-altering hourglass being featured prominently in previous games as evidence. A reset in the narrative could certainly provide much-needed freshen-ups for long-running series such as NetherRealm – hopefully at Summer Game Fest! I suspect NetherRealm will clear things up quickly!
