Nearly 22,000 people signed a petition calling for the return of Stanger Things4breakout character Eddie Munson after his death at the hands (or teeth?) of several dozen interdimensional bat beasts.

Stranger Things creators Matt Duffer had warned us that we should be concerned about “everybody”. However, in the end, there were only two casualties. Only one of them was dead.

Vecna finally killed Max (Sadie Sink), before Eleven brought her back to life. Although it appears her consciousness is gone, she is alive and will be back for Stranger Things.

Eddie Munson (Joseph Quinn’s fate) was much more definitive. After luring away Demobats to save Dustin, the guitar-wielding metalhead is made a hero. This is a fitting storyline for Dustin, who fled danger to start the series. Fans are however understandably disappointed that the show’s most popular character has been killed.

A petition quickly became a viral sensation, as people are quick to react to creative ideas they disagree with.

This Change.org petition requests that Eddie Munson, a fan favorite, return to Stranger Things 5 arguing that he was unfairly killed off. It has just shy of 22,000 signatures at the time of writing.

One supporter declared, “Eddie should graduate.” Another supporter said that many people had stopped paying Netflix after Munson’s passing. Although I am not certain that this is true, I can see why people are upset.

Is there anything that can be done with this petition? It is unlikely. They have their vision for Stranger Things 5, and they are likely to keep it. This will let Joseph Quinn, the amazing actor, know how much he impressed fans with his performance. If that’s all it does, then the petition has done a lot.
