It’s easy to forget how long it has been since the first movie. The sequel The Way of Water will be released in cinemas on 16th December. The next three movies are expected to arrive every two years. It is not clear how likely this will happen.

However, James Cameron, the director, has always had big plans for this series. But in a recent interview, he said that he may not be the one to direct the films later on but that he trusts another director.

He said that the Avatar films are “kind of all-consuming.” “I have some exciting things that I am working on as well. I believe that eventually, over time – I don’t know if it’s after three or four – I will want to hand the baton over to a director I trust so that I can do other things that I’m interested in. Maybe not. “I don’t know.”

It’s not an automatic conclusion, but it is possible. It is pretty surprising that the creator of this series would consider dropping it. However, The Way of Water took 13 years to complete. You can see why he hesitated about fully committing to the long-term. It sounds like he is still very excited about future films.

He continued, “All I need to talk about is my family, sustainability, climate change, and the natural world, as well as the themes that are important in my real life and cinematic life, can I say on this canvas.” “I became more excited as I went along. The fourth movie is a great one. It’s a momf**ker. It’s a dream of mine. It all depends on the market. It’s already in the works, so it will come out. It’s a big story, and I hope we can make it four and five.

We will have to watch and wait to see what happens. It’s only a few months until the sequel, so don’t wait.
