TAFEP Investigation Rules Ubisoft Singapore Taken Appropriate Action Following Harassment reports
The Tripartite Alliance for Fair and Progressive Employment Practices launched an investigation into Ubisoft Singapore last year after harassment claims were made within the studio. TAFEP has concluded the investigation and stated that Ubisoft Singapore’s systems have been able to handle reports properly. This includes the use of confidential reporting channels, a Code of Fair Conduct and independent parties to deal with employee reports.
Fanbyte received a summary of the report from TAFEP. It addressed complaints about the pay disparity between workers. This included employees feeling correlated to race or whether they were foreign. Ubisoft Singapore hired an independent human resource consultancy firm to examine the company’s structure. TAFEP was informed of the findings by the firm, which stated that there were reasons for the disparity in pay, including differences in seniority and experience.
TAFEP states that Ubisoft Singapore’s workplace harassment reporting systems allowed for “appropriate action,” including warnings, demotions and arrangements to reduce work interactions between the people who reported it and those who received it. Ubisoft Singapore’s actions are demonstrated by the demotion and dismissal of Hugues Ricoeur, former managing director.
All this being said, TAFEP closed its investigation into Ubisoft Singapore. It will not be taking any action against the company.
