How to use predictive Text Keyboards for AI-generated Comedy

I have been a big fan of Botnik Studios, the comedy group responsible for internet gems such as the neural network-generated Coachella lineup poster comprising bands like”Billions of Mario.” They have been putting out consistently great parodies of Scrubs scripts, advertisements for beef, and fine titles for ships , Each of them made using a text keyboard. I had been curious about exactly what this meant and how I, also, could utilize AI to create viral hits, so I phoned up Botnik Studios CEO and former Clickhole author Jamie Brew to explain in the movie above.

Botnik includes a browser-based Predictive Writer which you could load up with”voices”, hence its title, Voicebox. It functions to the predictive text of your phone, by suggesting a group of phrases based on the context of the other words from the message. The suggestions are based on the source material you upload. Voicebox comes pre-loaded with a few supply materials, but the real fun comes from making your own. You may even combine two resources, such as the text from Fire & Fury and McDonald’s thing menus.

Voicebox should be considered as a writing tool Instead of a meme generator that only dumps out a bunch of phrases, since the end result actually rests on how good of a writer you are. You have to guide the words to be suggested by the Voicebox, and it is a bit like AI Mad Libs in a way. Your word choices can replicate if you do not see anything you like, or you’ll be able to save words should you see a particularly good one.

I think the best Botnik creations are things Which are open to parody, so to check it out, I tried my hand at making my own predictive keyboard based on Sanrio characters. I drew my own characters and let these character descriptions guide their appearances. To compare, here’s an example of Hello Kitty’s actual bio on the Sanrio site

To do this, I replicated the Wikipedia entry for List of Sanrio characters’, Put it to some .txt document and uploaded it. I Attempted to mimic the official Sanrio bio formats Filling it with birthday facts hobbies, and their areas in Sanrio history. Sanrio character bios are fairly strange, so I don’t Think these personalities were that much of a stretch, but it was A good exercise in writing. Botnik includes a Facebook group For folks to share their experiments and work, so if you are prepared to Begin, there is always a community which can give opinions.
