It is back. 2020 is an Olympic season, with the Games of the XXXII Olympiad taking set in Tokyo, Japan. It’s that glorious period every four years when we brush up on pictograms, become specialists in modern pentathlon and know our épées from our sabres.
I fell in love with the Olympics in 1992, seeing divers tumble off the large board In front of the spectacular backdrop of Barcelona. Where are the 2020 Olympics?
The Games will take place in over 40 places in the vicinity of Tokyo, with some soccer matches happening farther afield. Japan last hosted the Summer Games in 1964, which had been the first in Asia; the Winter Olympics were there in 1972 and 1998.
