PlayStation gamers will soon have to give up content they bought
PlayStation gamers are expected to be denied access to certain items by the end of the year. Many call it daylight robbery.
Digital stores can be a volatile item. Although they are a readily accessible source of content license issues or just the dictates of large corporations may cause online stores to alter and shift their product offerings without logic or rhyme.
This is something PlayStation players must learn because a variety of films and TV shows are set to be unavailable for gamers, no matter if you’ve purchased it.
An tweet of Culture Crave outlined the situation and stated that ” Sony is eliminating a plethora of television shows out of PS Store PS Store at the end of this year.
“If you purchased this content, you’ll no longer be able to use it”
The recent decision to remove certain items in the online store is one thing. However, this would mean new buyers aren’t able to purchase the item themselves. However, this isn’t the case for people who have purchased the television shows as they’ll be no longer in a position to view them, despite spending their hard-earned money to get the privilege.
You can imagine that consumers were upset, people pointing out another reason to buy online instead of physically might be risky over the next few years.
One user said: “That’s why physical media preservation is so important.”
A third one said: “Physical Copy advocators keep winning.”
One final thought was the legal consequences of disappearing media items, and said “Without a refund, how is that not theft?”
It’s unclear if Sony is planning to refund customers on their purchases when they quit the online store in the coming year, since there was no mention of this in the press release announcing their departure.
The list of shows that are being cut is available on the PlayStation Store until 31 December 2023. After that, they’re removed forever.
