Destiny 2 Exotic Armor Details Have Been Released
The This Week at Bungie (TWAB) blog is back with all kinds of juicy information about Destiny 2. Bungie revealed Season of the Deep along with new Strand features and Trials of Osiris updates.
They also discussed a number of economic updates coming to the title. This was mainly “focused” on exotic armor, and being able to select which item you wanted to decrypt exotic engrams into.
This feature has been requested since Destiny 1 and the closest we have come to this is Legendary Lost Sectors. Exotic armor will be available in two different tiers, with each requiring a specific amount of material and offering a variety of options. This is a detailed breakdown of the system when it launches during Season 21.
Standard Decryption
- Decrypt Engrams is a free service that allows players to play.
- The standard Exotic Engram Loot Pools provide random loot to players.
- There is no additional charge.
Exotic focusing Tier 1
You can focus an engram and receive a roll at random of an Exotic card from an expansion.
Red War Exotic Helmets
Red War Exotic Weapons
Red War Exotic Chests
Red War Exotic Legs
Exotic Armor
Shadow keeps Exotic Armor
- Exotic Armor: Beyond the Light
- The Witch Queen – Exotic Armor
- In a Future Season, Lightfall will focus on Exotic Armor!
- This requires that you own the expansion and have previously purchased all the armor pieces in the engram.
- The cost will be:
- Exotic Engram
- 30,000 Glimmer.
- 1 Ascendant Shard.
Exotic Acquiring Tier 2
- Focus Exotic Armor at high costs.
- This armor requires that you have previously purchased the expansion and owned both.
- The cost is higher:
- Exotic Engram
- 60,000 Glimmer.
- 3 Ascendant Shards.
- Exotic Cipher
Bungie has assured that these expensive prices will be worth it because all the exotic armor they are focusing on have a high stat roll (the mid-60s and above), which is exactly what you’re looking for. While there didn’t seem to be a way to target specific stats for armor, you could always use Ghost mods to influence the drops in your favor.
The only way to get exotic engrams that can be focused is through world drops, Season Passes, or by reaching Level 16 at any vendor. Bungie has revealed that future seasons will have additional ways to obtain Exotic Engrams.
Other economic changes include the removal of Finest Matterweave items and Rainmaker. These items will still be in your Inventory when Season 21 begins, but you can now dismantle each one for either a single enhancement core or 3,000 Glimmer. Also, whenever you would normally receive a Finest Matterweave (or Rainmaker), they’ll drop an Enhancement Core instead. Season 21 will see the removal of Legendary Shards from all crafting materials.
