The This Week At Bungie (TWAB) blog is back with tons of new information about Destiny 2. Bungie revealed, along with the new Strand features, updates to Trials of Osiris, and economic changes, that earning Deepsight weapons would be easier.

Bungie explained in a blog that any weapon which can be given a border of red can get it via the new mod slots. The new Destiny2 features come with some restrictions, but it allows users to get Deepsight versions of weapons they are struggling to acquire or guns from previous seasons.

To do so, you will need to purchase a brand new item that is being introduced with Season 21, called Deepsight Harmonizer. Deepsight Harmonizer can be earned via Season Pass and is both paid for as well as free.

The players will only be able to earn six in total. This means that you can convert only 6 weapons at once into Deepsight variations and only one Deepsight harmonicator can be held at any given time. The currency cannot be stacked. Upgrades to normal weapons only cost one Harmonizer, while upgrades for raid weapons require 12 Spoils of Conquests and 1 Harmonizer.

This new Deepsight method has some restrictions on what types of weapons it can affect. First, any weapon sold by vendors such as Banshee-44 or Xur may be converted to a red-bordered version.

It makes sense, as they are the only places to get older weapons. For raids, you can only use guns that are earned from secret chests or encounters.

You cannot upgrade any guns that you purchase from the rewards chests after defeating the final boss. This is an alternative method to filling your collection of crafting materials, as it’s difficult to get all the borders from raids. The Harmonizer cannot be spent on weapons that you have already unlocked.

The strict limit on the currency can be confusing. I’m excited Bungie has introduced new ways to get Deepsight guns of old weapons, but it is also confusing that there is such a rigid limitation.

The system is similar to transmogrification, where you are limited to a set amount per season. It’s frustrating when you spend all your Harmonizers on a gun, only to have it fall out of fashion.
