About Banished
Shining Rock Software developed Banished, a video game focusing on city-building strategies. Banished is about the player leading citizens of an isolated community of outcasts in building and maintaining a settlement using a command economy. The player controls the entire town, and the town’s residents are the resources to be managed.
The player must assign citizens different jobs, such as building or fishing. The player can then direct the citizens to perform the task. Citizens have basic needs that must be met to stay happy and healthy. Two sources of additional citizens are the birth of children or the arrival of nomads, wandering people who wish to live in the town. The citizens of the player will eventually age and die.
