Kojima Productions Expands to Movies, TV, and Music
Kojima Productions has shifted from being a videogame company to a multimedia company. The company is opening a new branch for the development of movies, television, and music.
Although Hideo Kojima is the founder, Riley Russell will lead the outside team. He is coming off nearly three decades at PlayStation. This branch will be based out of Los Angeles. It will work on TV, movies, and music that are found in Kojima Productions IP. There might be more death Stranding, adaptations, and extensions on any other game the studio is currently working on.
Russell stated in a statement to GameIndustry.biz that the new division would be responsible for working with talented and creative professionals in television, film and music, as well as in the more common games industry. The team’s charter is to increase awareness and reach of properties currently under development at Kojima Productions and make them more prominent in our culture. The new business development team, although we are a global company, will be based in Los Angeles, CA. We are excited to work with the best talent in all entertainment industries.

After Kojima’s well-publicized departure from Konami in 2015, Kojima Productions was established as an independent company. Death Stranding was the first game released by the studio that Konami didn’t make. It launched on PS4 in 2019 and was later ported to a PC. It was re-released on PlayStation 5 in 2021 with new content, Death Stranding Director’s Cut.
