Like an ex who left and realized their mistakes almost immediately after a breakup. Assassin’s Creed writer Darby McCDevitt returned to Ubisoft less that a year after he left in March.

McDevitt also confirmed this to VGC. He told the outlet that he had rethought the series and wanted to add new ideas.

McDevitt has written credits for several Assassin’s Creed titles, including Discovery, Black Flag, Revelations and Discovery. He also had a narrative director credit for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla last year. This could mean that he is working on the Assassin’s Creed Infinity which will be more focused on live service elements. He might also be working on an unknown project.

McDevitt has returned to Ubisoft despite the problems surrounding workplace misconduct and the subsequent response. Employee complaints about the changes have been made in the company have been reported, along with broader investigations into specific branches such as Ubisoft Singapore.
