Age of Empires II: The Conquerors is the expansion pack for the real-time strategy game from 1999 Age of Empires II: The Age of Kings. The Conquerors included a variety of games with new features and modifications such as the brand new game modes, Defend the Wonder, King of the Hill and Wonder Race.
Other maps, including some that are inspired by real-world physical locations, as well as brand-fresh tropical and winter terrain textures were also included. The game allows infantry to encamp with battering rams to protect troops while increasing the ram’s attack and speed, and ships can create formations to aid in combat. The graphics remain unchanged however, new civilisations are added, such as those of the Spanish, Huns, Koreans, Mayans and Aztecs. Apart from the new units, upgrades available in the game have been extended to give additional units to choose from.
The Aztecs as well as the Mayans aren’t equipped to build cavalry units. It is partly because they begin in Eagle Warrior infantry units, with numerous advantages cavalry units have. The two civilisations are also not connected to the gunpowder unit. Huns: Huns are unique in the sense that they don’t build homes to accommodate their populace, at the beginning, they are only restricted to the limit of population in the game.
