It’s time to say goodbye to a time for a PlayStation exclusive. Gran Turismo Sport is no longer available on the PlayStation Store, just over six years after it was first made public.

The first announcement was that Gran Turismo Sport’s online servers would shut down at the end of September. “On the 31st of January 2024, at 06:06 UTC, the online service provided by Gran Turismo Sport will cease. PlayStation 4 exclusive software Gran Turismo Sportwill come to an conclusion. In the meantime, on the 01st of December 2023, we’ll also stop the sale of purchaseable add-on items available on the PlayStation Store that can be played in the game,” read the announcement. “After the date of expiry for service date the game will not be possible to use features like the Community, Open Lobby, as well as Sport Mode, nor online items such as customized liveries.” Be assured that, despite this, offline features are still accessible.

Devs stated that they took the choice so that they could concentrate on the improvement of Gran Turismo 7. There’s some confusion, however, because Gran Turismo Sport has been removed completely. Still, initially, it was suggested that it would just be DLC additions that would be removed in conjunction with the shutdown of multiplayer servers. There was a belief that the game would be accessible for purchase, given that offline modes are still in operation.

This is not an option since Gran Turismo Sport seems to have been cancelled to the end of the road. So, you’ll need to look for an actual copy if you decide to purchase it at some point in the future to take advantage of what’s left.

It’s indeed logical to eliminate the game. Oddly, it did not get mentioned in last year’s announcement. If you’re a big fan of Gran Turismo Sport’s multiplayer online experience, it’s still several weeks to play. The servers are scheduled to close on the 31st of January. Therefore, you should take advantage of the remaining month if you still have time.
