We’re not likely to see it release on Mondays however, Sony’s forthcoming Garfield movie will become one of the films with a video game. In the Chinese-American-funded fund called Stars-Hana the films of the directors James Wan, Sam Raimi and Roy Lee will all be transformed for gaming.

The fund Stars-Hana is a joint venture between production firm Stars Collective that is responsible for the entire film projects involved, and Hana Investment, which funnels funds into industries that are growing rapidly, like medical services, as well as media. The co-CEOs from Stars Collective William Li and Nancy Xu see this as an opportunity to increase the impact of their work according to the newspaper Deadline, “Video games carry equal weight in terms of their broad impact and ability to enhance IP”.

One of those One of those projects is The Garfield Movie, starring Chris Pratt and Samuel L. Jackson and is scheduled for a launch in May 2024. It is the top of a list of nine films from three directors Wan, Raimi, and Lee that are coming to consoles as well as PCs. The other films in the pipeline by the fund are collaborative projects with the directors including:

  • Every House is Haunted
  • The Burden
  • Hunting Season
  • The Call of Cthulhu
  • Mass Extinction
  • GMO
  • The Goxfather
  • Memory Lost in Space

Although these games may not be ringing a lot of bells but the Stars-Hana series is expected to be appealing to a larger variety of people as their projects are taking a dip into various genres. Fans of horror will have Call of Cthulhu to look at as well, the film Wan says is the “dream project”, whereas fans of sci-fi can look forward to sinking their teeth into the worlds of GMO and Mass Extinction, both on the big screen as well as on consoles.

Film-to-game adaptions can be sometimes a bit sporadic There will have plenty of material that can be enjoyed in the Stars-Hana funds. It’s a fact that there will be plenty of time spent on creating the best virtual lasagna recipe for the cat who is hungry.
