Once fandom and publisher come together in harmony, everything seems right with the world: rainbows appear, the heat of the sun warms your skin and worries seem to disappear in an instant. Okay, maybe not quite so idyllic… but when fans see highly requested changes made live for games they love, their excitement can only increase exponentially – turning what was originally seen as unwelcome change into an “most welcome surprise”.
Starting off as a fan-made mod to address Ubisoft’s flawed parkour mechanics in Assassin’s Creed Mirage, Ubisoft made sure their efforts didn’t fall on deaf ears; their response has been nothing short of incredible and illustrates just how far things can advance when everyone works together towards one common goal.
“No other studio has managed to give us this feeling for so long – let alone take into consideration,” wrote one elated gamer on Ubisoft Bordeaux’s official forum. The importance of their contribution goes well beyond simply their patch. Thank you Bordeaux!”
One AC fan went beyond simply thanking Ubisoft Bordeaux; another added: “Their decision to recognize and implement post-launch a mod that users liked as part of making parkour more engaging was highly appreciated; you can tell they care about fans of older games!”
Now that the parkour experience feels authentic and authentic parkour moves are possible, Ubisoft must honor fans’ wishes for a Roman Empire location at some point before it comes to an end (should this ever occur). It doesn’t need to happen immediately but should occur before franchise ends (assuming ever occurs).
Fans can still move with grace during quests or simply for fun while exploring.
