In the last week Sega released a surprise announcement that a number of classic franchises are set to make their return in the coming couple of years.

The trailer that was shown at The Game Awards provided fans with a peek at the many currently being under development by the company but they’re not Sonic The Hedgehog associated according to our knowledge.

Each of the projects is a continuation from some of Sega’s famous series, such as Jet Set Radio, Crazy Taxi, Shinobi, Golden Axe and Streets Of Rage.

Although these were the only five games showcased, and we could only briefly be able to add The trailer also alluded to other games coming and all of them will be released in staggered order within the next couple of years. Additionally, note that these aren’t remakes, nor Remasters. They are completely new games.

Today Sega of America CEO Shuji Utsumi talked about what customers can anticipate from Sega of America in the years coming, and it’s an excellent news to those who are new and old fans alike.

Shuji Utsumi stated “We are exploring our past and reinventing a variety of series to make these games accessible to new audiences across the world. This announcement today is only the beginning of our project.

The CEO continued to add “First and most importantly, our goal will be to make fantastic games featuring iconic characters and exciting worlds. We’re hoping players of all ages take a look at our future with excitement as we announce our games over the next months.”

This is a huge win for those who are those who love Sega’s franchises, most of which haven’t updated in a long time despite their importance. It’s exciting to think about games that haven’t been announced. can be thrilling, especially since series such as Alex Kidd or Virtua Fighter might be resurrected alongside other ones. I’m looking forward to an update that is similar to Ristarpersonally.

One aspect Sega hasn’t made clear are the dates for release. It’s not clear how far into development these games are but it’s a good assumption that the most recent launch date for any of them is 2025 or later.
