Sony isn’t doing well in recent times. From disgruntled gamers to dissatisfied customers, in the realm of gaming on video, Sony is the name that is heard on the lips of many with all sorts of untrue motives. The first acquisition following the acquisition of Microsoft purchased Activision is finally happening most likely as a way to attract attention in the market, and also to increase its influence within the gaming industry.

A recent news release Sony announced that it is purchasing a company based in the UK called iSIZE. The statement issued by the company on November 2 says: “iSIZE builds AI-powered solutions that deliver savings in bitrate and improve quality to the entertainment and media business. This acquisition will provide SIE with extensive expertise in the application of machine learning to video processing. This will be beneficial to a variety of our R&D activities along with our streaming and video services.”

Instead of focusing at an independent studio that is growing up, Sony is taking PlayStation ahead with its tech first and this will aid them in gaining a foothold over the market following a dip in the last months. In addition, the announcement is devoid of plans concrete, opting to focus on the history of iSIZE. While Sony remains silent about how iSIZE is specifically doing for the company, it’s safe to believe that an acquisition would transform the game-playing capabilities on the cloud.

However, the person who is a cynic can’t imagine that the announcement was made in a hurry to lessen the pain caused by Bungie (which is part of Sony) eliminating 100 of its workers. It’s the fourth business under the Sony brand to reduce the number of employees it employs, following Media Molecule, Naughty Dog as well as Visual Arts. It’s not a good design. However, layoffs are occurring all over the place and in all directions within the world of video games which means Sony isn’t the only one that is suffering.

The only thing left to do is relax and observe as iSIZE creates its presence felt within the Sony console. It’s possible that this will become the pivotal moment in the direction of PlayStation which was criticized for the month of the month of November’s PS Plus being an ” all-time low” with regards to high-end and value-for-money.
