Since I first saw the spectacular magical world that is Spirited Away I’ve been aching to own my private bath house for the spirits. It’s an ambitious ambition that I didn’t think would ever come to pass however, thanks to Steam’s demos that are free I’m now able to transform my dream into real-life reality, though digitally.

Spiritteais a soon-to-be-released RPG and life simulator exquisitely rendered in pixel art. It instantly brings nostalgia for Stardew Valley or Octopath Traveller II and, for fans of cosy games such as myself, greatly enhances its popularity. However, rather than repeat a boring story, Spirittea attempts to re-invent the genre with cute spirit creatures that need help.

The game is giving Studio Ghibli the Studio Ghibli vibes in a huge manner and is adding another huge, green tick against the game prior to it being made available. Additionally, it provides convenience, which is an essential component in any cosy game worthy of its price.

This year’s been great for gamers who are cosy due to Fae Farm, Moonstone Island, Sea of Stars, Dave the Diver, and Planet of Lana; they’re not just sim games however, they all emit the warm glow only the most reverent and authentic games of the cosy genre can. Let me tell you, the self-described queen of cosy games. The best game experience to create this feeling so to date can be Moonstone Island, which I have recently looked over for GAMINGbible and with the excitement of a tiny child. It delivered precisely what I was hoping for however, I was left wanting more.

It’s clear that my thirst is bound to be satisfied by Spirittea. It’s possible that I’ll get dissatisfied, but based on what I’ve seen of the trailer as well as the demo for free trial so far I’m sceptical. Cuddly drinks, delicious food and a myriad of decorations The game has everything needed to live up to the expectations I set for quality video games.

Even though the demo isn’t currently available, Spiritteawill launch on the 13th of November on Nintendo Switch, Steam, Xbox, and PlayStation.
