Modern Warfare 3 players believe that the multiplayer weapons are more like guns from Nerf, which we’re totally in agreement with.

After spending a few hours in this Modern Warfare 3 beta, it’s clear its weaponry is preventing an excellent game that is packed with fast-paced action as well as an overwhelming dose of nostalgia that comes from the classic maps returning.

Even with this beta being a tiny part of the complete multiplayer game at the time of launch in the near future, the top guns and weapons to combat the rise in the time required to kill were discovered quickly, which led to an unbalanced meta as well as complaints about the unreliability in-game performance.

In an attempt to draw attention to the issue, nine16s wrote on Reddit and offered reasons for why the majority of weapons feel like the gun is firing foam bullets.

The user considers: “My god, 80% of the guns are just unusable, especially with no attachments. The net code is god awful, and there have been multiple deaths of mine where I’d empty a clip into somebody and yet somehow miss 90% of my shots.”

Apart from the fear of guns creating debates among players, some feel that the base health level of 150 HP negatively affected the speed at which players can kill. In The Modern Warfare 2 cycle, people were unhappy with the duration of time to kill, so Sledgehammer Games decided to adjust the game’s time-to-kill to a lower level. It’s impossible to please everyone anymore.

One participant thinks, “Horrible TTK (time to kill) [is the] worst thing about the beta.”

However, some believe that the spongy feel of weapons could be a result of a lack of skill. A player has said: “They do not feel like Nerf guns. Most guns in MW2 took four shots to kill, and in MW3, they take an average of 5 shots to kill.”

The beta, thankfully, allows Sledgehammer Games to obtain plenty of feedback that allows players to possibly alter the weapon’s performance in order to provide an even playing field. We’ll need to wait and watch if the developers decide to add buffs and changes to the game when it comes out, but for the moment, the spongy weapons haven’t been going through the gauntlet in a good way.
