This week, I had the pleasure of playing the game Assassin’s Creed Nexus. The upcoming VR game is scheduled to be launched on Meta Quest. Meta Quest aims to make you feel like one of some of the series’ most beloved characters and give you the excitement of climbing the walls of a building or assassinating villainous people through your movement.

The entire experience felt like playing a live Animus, and it offers an entirely different way to experience the Assassin’s Creed.

My experience playing the game led me through a course and an entire level that put me in the sway of the best Assassin from the game, Ezio Auditore da Firenze; however, Connor Kenway and Kassandra will play in the game as well.

If you’ve ever played VR previously, you’ll find the controls quite simple. The triggers work as fingers, allowing users to grasp items, drop them, and throw them throughout the room. There are also a variety of gadgets and weapons later that attach to your body and require to be pulled out and put back into their proper places, such as putting the blade at your side or removing smoking bombs from your belt.

What makes it different is that the game isn’t just about gear or random objects that you’ll pick up, but you have to be climbing like an assassin. In other games, Assassin’s Creed has characters that are masters of parkour; this is something you’ll learn throughout the course. It’s a sure thing that the initial stages will make players fumble around through a wall while searching for the perfect brick to pull their bodies up. When you’ve mastered it, the experience is awe-inspiring, and it was a thrill to climb buildings of all levels in the style and speed that an assassin would have, realizing that it was only my actions and fast thinking that made the difference.

The situation was different when you were moving around, however, since it is evident that VR games don’t come with any way to keep track of your feet. Even in the event that they did, it isn’t practical as a game. It instead uses the same gameplay Assassin’s Creed games have used for a long time, pressing the button that causes your character to leap into the air and leap across rooftops. However, don’t be fooled by the fact that there’s plenty of control since the height you’ll jump from is dependent on the direction you’re watching.

While running in a direction, you could choose to leap at a nearby tree that you could grab and then swing to keep your energy moving. It is also possible to test clear of a gap, jumping off and then grabbing the edge just before falling before lifting yourself and setting off. If you require to rapidly and safely return to the ground, it is simply necessary to keep your hands on the wall and attach hooks to stop the descent.

The Venice game I tried was completely free of obstructions as well, and I was able to have a fantastic playground where I could test the various parkour techniques, like the famous Leap Of Faith, which can be a bit daunting even in VR.

I was highly impressed by the options for comfort that let you alter your perspective within the game and the way it’s controlled. You could, for instance, opt for teleportation over fluid movement and change the direction of your vision. There was a mode to help those who suffer from vertigo or an aversion to heights, which gave greater clarity of the area ahead of you.

However, while parkour may be the most popular feature in Assassin’s Creed, the stealth/action is undoubtedly the cream, which is why Assassin’s Creed Nexus is flush with it.
