Sea of Thieves, an action-adventure game published by Microsoft Studios on Windows and Xbox One and developed by Rare was released 20 March 2018. Players can take on the role of pirates sailing through the waters of an imaginary world, either alone or with a crew up to four people. The gameplay is presented in first person.
This game includes both cooperative and player-versus-player combat. It also supports cross-platform gameplay between Xbox One, Windows and other platforms. Sea of Thieves was met with mixed reviews from the critics upon its release. The game received praise for its gameplay, style and sailing mechanics.
The majority of critics, however, found that the game lacked content and were critical of the price tag. The repetitive design of quests and performance problems were also criticized. A year after its release, many critics expressed a more positive view of the game.
