Outside is an online co-op psychological horror game featuring four to four priest characters interacting together as ghost hunters in order to explore various locations experiencing paranormal activities and expel any ghost they find, using equipment and the “Ghostpedia”.
You and your priest team must use all available ghost-hunting means in order to locate where and which ghost they’re dealing with – using ghost-hunting equipment as well as knowledge gained from using it, in order to bind any spirits they find onto specific properties and exorcise them from existence.
Obsidian offers more replayability by paying attention to context clues about a ghost’s appearance and interactions within its environment, rather than searching for specific object clues that drive playthrough. This provides greater replayability while maintaining unique experiences every time through. As I wanted the focus to revolve around exorcisms, each item the ghost interacts with (Spirit box, EMF meter or Geiger Counter) influences your approach to exorcism.
At present, there are over 55 ghost interactions within the game; these range from subtle plate shifting or disembodied breathing all the way up to completely smashing walls or making blood rain from them. You must pay careful attention as to what actions these ghosts perform as this provides clues as to who or what you are dealing with.
