Final Fantasy XIV Patch 6.4 Brings Big Changes to Island Sanctuaries

Island Sanctuary, is one of many activities available in Final Fantasy XIV after the completion of Endwalker’s latest expansion. New content, on May 23, will build on what was introduced with Patch 6.2.

The Island Sanctuary now offers players more customization options and new achievements to achieve.

  • Island Sanctuaries have been updated and improved in patch 6.4
  • Maximum sanctuary ranks have been increased to 16.
  • The wilds now have a new area for gathering.
  • There are now new gathering points.
  • The new materials that can be collected have been added.
  • The new recipes for crafting sanctuaries have been added.
  • The list of new products has been updated.
  • The list of animals has been expanded.
  • Foraging trips can provide new materials.
  • Foraging has been expanded to a new area.
  • The list of handicrafts has been expanded to include new isle works.

The maximum rank when Island Sanctuaries first appeared in Patch 6.2 was 10. In Patch 6.3 the maximum rank was increased from 10 to 12. This is the biggest jump in ranking since their release.

While exploring their island, players will find various materials that they can collect, plant crops in their gardens, or produce goods using tamed animals. The materials collected can be crafted into new tools that will allow you to gather new items. They can also be used in Sanctuary Workshops to refine them for Seafarer Cowries.

  • The horrendous hoarder NPC now offers new items in exchange for the islander and seafarer cowries.

Seafarer’s Cowries were used to create a variety of previous items. These included glamours and Chocobo bandings. They also created mounts. Images of the two Island Sanctuaries’ outfits were featured in live letter 77, The remaining items remain unknown.

  • There are now new visions.

Island Sanctuary interprets a quest as ‘Visions. They are not in the same format as FFXIV quests. Visions usually require you to make progress on your own island. Instead of talking with an NPC and slaying some mobs, then coming back for the reward, they are tied to your Island. The Visions can be completed in a variety of ways, as there are four Sanctuary Ranks.

  • There are now new facilities.
  • The hideaway offers new construction plots.

On the entire island, construction plots have been used to build landmarks, workshops, and granaries. It’s not clear if new plots or facilities refer to upgrades to existing features, or are a brand-new addition. This could be new landmarks that add a touch of beauty to an island, and also generate Groove.

  • The warning now shows when there will be material shortages for crafts.

Materials collected on the island can be used to make tools, build buildings and create handicrafts. Buildings and handicrafts don’t happen instantly. Construction of new buildings can take as much as 12 hours in real life, while handicrafts are often prepared days ahead.

The export screen is used to show the material requirements for each handicraft. But now, a quality-of-life feature warns Island Sanctuary owners if their work will result in a shortage of materials.

From 40 minions to 50, the maximum amount of minions which can be released simultaneously has increased.

Island Sanctuaries has a fun feature that allows the minions players have collected to wander free at different places. This gives their little companions the chance to experience island life with them. The addition of 10 slots helps make choosing your favorites easier.

Island Sanctuary furnishes glamorous

The addition of furnishings glamours is one of Patch 6.4’s most important features. The players can convert the outdoor furniture items that were originally meant for housing to glamour and place them around their Island Sanctuary. This gives their private paradise a unique look.

Furniture items can be used multiple times without being wasted. The furnishing may not have been expended, but it remains in the player’s inventory. It is then bound to that person, which prevents them from selling or trading.

Players can place up to 90 items around their Island Sanctuaries and convert up to 120 into glamours. The community is sure to come up with some creative ideas once they have the option to customize their own islands.
