PlayStation does not plan to release games simultaneously on PS5 as well PC
PlayStation has recently talked about the possibility that PlayStation 5 exclusively launch on Computer at once, and stated they do not plan to abandon staggered release.
Typically, PlayStation-exclusive games stay with the console for a number of years, before receiving a port to PC later down the line, with popular examples being Marvel’s Spider-Man and God Of War. Many fans wonder if PC ports will be made available for upcoming exclusives like Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 or Wolverine. Unfortunately, this is not the case.
Jim Ryan, the CEO of PlayStation spoke to Famitsu recently about the launch plans. He said: “We fully understand the importance of PS5 Exclusive titles…. we are increasing the PS5 Exclusive games and stagger the release of PC versions.”
Ryan’s reason for doing this is supposedly based on the opinions of PlayStation fans. He stated, “I have often had the opportunity to speak with game enthusiasts and ask their opinion. When I ask how they feel, they say that they find the PC release two or three years after the PlayStation release acceptable.”
It is the exact opposite of their competitor Xbox which releases Xbox Series S/X as well PC versions at the same, most often through Xbox Game Pass.
Sony has confirmed that they will continue to release PC ports of new exclusives, despite the fact that sales of ps5 games are falling due to a 70-percent price tag. Sony confirmed they will release a PC port for new exclusives. However, they have to wait a while to polish them.
If you are a PC player who wants to play the newest and best PlayStation games, then you will be out of luck unless you want to wait for a few months to see a new port. You can look at the positive side, you will get your game, unlike Xbox users.
