Xbox Series X|S owners are planning to boycott the console over a controversial new feature.

What’s this controversial new feature that is causing a lot of Xbox fans to be angry? This controversial feature is the possibility of implementing running ads within games similar to those seen on the mobile market.

Comicbook.com reported that Microsoft’s Corporate Vice President for Game Creator Experience and Ecosystem for the Green brand has “talked about” ads running in games. At this point, it’s unclear whether the ads that run in-game are related to free-to-play or paid titles.

Bond said to Rolling Stone “We invest a great deal of time into how we can introduce more diversity in business models; more options.” We talk about Game Pass a lot because it’s the latest subscription option we have scaled. First, there was pay-to-play, then free-to-play, and finally Game Pass.

We’ve discussed how we are experimenting with different models. For example, what is the impact of advertising on games that are more common on mobile? Are there any models which work on a console or PC? Is there another model where timed segments of the game and other stuff would be possible?

She added: “Giving creators options and choices allows them to experiment, do what they want and create immersive and creative experiences without being forced to follow a mold.”

Fans on Twitter are expressing disdain for the idea of Xbox games incorporating ads.

I’ll be selling my Xbox as soon as they begin making games that have ads. Imagine falling behind your competition, and then your answer is to add more ads from your dashboard filled with advertisements,” tweeted Twitter user @SiinthAP in response to Idle Sloth’s post.

“Same! OldPixel1984, in response, replied: “I will turn my back on Xbox as soon as they do that.” Ads in the games. She has no idea what gamers are looking for. “She has no taste”, added @Jackgamer74.

Microsoft is not the first company to have done so. GameSpot reported that EA was subjected to a backlash in September 2020 after placing ads into UFC 4. The ads were quickly removed.

In a recent incident, Warner Bros. Games was called shameful” by fans when Hogwarts Legacy advertisements were discovered in Mortal Kombat 11.. This sneaky campaign was made worse by the fact that MK11 and Hogwarts Legacy are two very different games.

Publishers are always trying to figure out ways to insert ads in games. This includes those paid for by the gamer. The only way to stop this is if gamers continue to voice their concerns.
