The 77th letter from the producer live for Final Fantasy XIV was released today. The patch will be released on May 23rd, 2023. Naoki Yoshida, creative director, and Toshio Murouchi, global community producer, discussed some of the upcoming changes.

They also noted that the rotation of each role will not change. The changes are aimed at balancing damage within roles. Yoshida said that Dark Knight has been a popular tank in Japan. To compensate, the other tanks, Paladin, Gunbreaker, and Warrior, will have their damage increased.

The team also decided to extend the range of some party buffs up to 30 yalms. Black Mages should not expect Ley Lines’ range to be increased. This change will not affect the range of heals.

Other changes were also described. Yoshida stated that the team had originally planned to include Dragoon fixes in Patch 7.0, but decided instead to put them into Patch 6.4. Dragoons’ positions will not change when they use Jump or high jump. The character will appear to jump, but the player coordinates are not changing. This means that area-of-effect attacks won’t work anymore.

Yoshida will leave the details of any future job changes to be included in the patch notes. The rest of today’s Live Letter can be found here at Fanbyte.
