Final Fantasy XIV’s fourth PVP series brings new adjustments in patch 6.4
Final Fantasy XIV is designed to cater to many types of playstyles, including PVP fans. During Letter from the producer LIVE part 77, FFXIV producer Naoki “Yoshi-P” Yoshida revealed the PVP Series Four and Season Seven Crystalline Conflict. He also showcased a number of quality-of-life changes that will be coming to Frontline.
Crystalline Conflict Season Seven and PVP Series Four
The update will begin with the PVP Series Four. This series brings new rewards as well as the chance to earn Trophy Crystals. Players gain Series EXP by progressing through the 30 levels of Series Malmstones. The rewards for the new PVP Series Four have not been announced yet, but the last three series offered around 5 to 6 unique rewards, with each level rewarding Trophy Crystals.
Patch 6.4 will also bring Season Seven of Crystalline Conflict as well as rewards for those who reach Diamond Tier or place among the top 100 players. Yoshi-P demonstrated an item that applies an effect on hellhound weapons. This will be worn by top PVPers as a badge.
Frontline Adjustments
One of the major updates that will be coming in PVP Series Four is a significant adjustment to Frontline, for FFXIV. First, a new element on the UI displays the match score and time. In the pre-Patch version 6.4, the match time and score were displayed in the duty list, but it now has its own unique, dedicated element on the HUD.
The rate at which limit gauges fill up for each of the jobs has also been adjusted, as well as how much damage can be dealt with and received. However, until the patch notes have been released it is not known what specific changes were made.
Frontline maps will see some changes, notably Borderland Ruins (Secure) which is temporarily unavailable with Patch 6.4, and Fields of Glory (Shatter), which has had its rules and map layout tweaked.
Fields of Glory players know the terrain can be difficult to navigate. The new map layout aims to fix this problem by streamlining it and relocating the icebound tomeliths. These tomeliths are also respawning, giving Grand Companies another chance to smack them down.
Allagan Tomeliths located outside each Grand Company’s spawn have been removed, eliminating the opportunity to earn points for an objective that seemed to be out of place.
Finally, Daily Challenge: Frontline now awards Series EXP. This allows players to accomplish two things at once and progress through Series Four, while also fulfilling their Duty Roulettes.
These new adjustments and additions will allow both seasoned PVP veterans and new challengers to enjoy the battles with their fellow Warriors of Light in order to gain new and unique rewards for Crystalline Conflict Season Seven and PVP Series Four.
