Tears of the Kingdom will launch on Switch on May 12, 2023. It’s been a long time coming, and the sequel to Breath Of The Wild is set to be the biggest game in 2023. But critics are already weighing in ahead of the worldwide release. What they have to say may even be more pleasing than Song of Storms.

You may not believe it, but there is a new Zelda game. It seems to be pretty good. Metacritic’s rating for the game currently is 97 from 60 reviews. This puts it right up there with BOTW, who also scored 97.

The current aggregated Opencritic score is 97. This is higher than BOTW’s 96. However, keep in mind that BOTW has received more reviews. Its current aggregated score of 97 puts it at the top of Opencritic’s most popular games alongside Super Mario Odyssey. However, it is important to note that reviews over time tend to bring this number down.

GameSpot also gives TOTK another 10/10 and says:

It’s not the score that matters, it is when the review is published. The only thing you need to pay attention to is your death date and the next time you get to enjoy a free Costa coffee (I have just two beans).

Breath of the Wild is a fantastic follow-up game with brilliant new systems and amazing views, as well as more dungeons-type areas. However, the emphasis placed on collecting resources can be a little depressing.

Not bad at all, right? The least favorable review still has a higher rating than the majority of reviews and it is still an incredibly positive one. Maybe if Nintendo keeps making these games, the public will start to take notice.

Update: Gfinity ‘s 6/10 mixed review has dropped its overall rating down.

If you didn’t enjoy the 2017 release, the story alone might not be worth the second attempt. If you weren’t a fan of the previous release in 2017, the story might not make it worth a second try .”

TOTK has now been rated 96 by Metacritic but 97 by Opencritic because Gfinity’s reviews have not yet appeared.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will be released on Switch on May 12th, 2023. Stay tuned to CulturedVultures in the next few days for an insane amount of content.
