Fez, also known as FEZ, is an indie puzzle-platform video game published by Trapdoor by Polytron Corporation. Gomez, the player-character, lives on a 2D plane. Then he gets a red Fez and sees the destruction of a vast, golden Hexahedron. This rips the fabric of spacetime and unveils the third dimension. The game will reset and glitch after the player’s character Gomez is given a red fez. He can then rotate between four views of the 3D world as four sides within a cube-shaped space. This rotation mechanic, which connects otherwise inaccessible platforms to reveal new routes through the levels, is the foundation of Fez’s puzzles. For example, floating platforms can be transformed into a concrete road, and discontinuous ladders can become whole. Platforms that follow a track will stay on the same course. The game’s object is to collect cubes or cube fragments that can be used to restore order in the universe. Gomez uses ledges to navigate the game and search for these cubes. Other platforms change according to the level themes. Bombs that reveal passages and crates that activate switches are all examples of platforming elements. Pistons that lift Gomez into the air are also available.
