About The Witness
Thekla, Inc. published The Witness, a 3D puzzle videogame. The player explores an island full of natural formations and structures as an unnamed character.
The island is divided roughly into eleven regions. Each region revolves around the mountain representing the ultimate goal of the player.
These regions are distinguished from each other by differences in vegetation. The puzzles within each region are very similar (e.g., Their solutions might all require symmetry.
There are yellow boxes that house turrets throughout the island. Once the puzzles in the box’s area have been solved, these can be activated.
The turrets will light up toward the top of the mountain when activated. This indicates that a portion of the game has been completed.
To unlock the inside of the mountain and reach the final goal, several such turrets must be activated. If all 11 turrets have been activated, additional puzzles may be found.
