EA seems to be mocking people who like single-player games, and immediately regret it
Every human being on the planet has experienced a moment in their lives that makes them cringe. We’ve all been there: a rejection from a crush or an embarrassing slip of the tongue, tripping on busy streets – it happens. In the modern age of social media and people using Twitter every day to share their inner thoughts, there will be some gaffs and goofs among the millions and billions of messages.
Unfortunately, EA has received a lot of attention from one tweet that they thought was a joke about people who prefer single-player games to multiplayer. People have been quite cruel.
Let’s do some homework first. According to the tweet, “they’re 10 but they like single-player games”. This is a reference, to a TikTok trend in which a user states that a person is 10 (out 10 for personality and looks), but then they reveal one flaw that makes them attractive. Although it is simple, I have to explain the details.
Regardless, the publisher was not well-received by many, as I already mentioned. People who prefer single-player games to the endless stream of multiplayer titles have faced a lot of criticism in recent years. This could be seen as a thinly-veiled cash grab. Who am I to judge if this is true?
YouTuber Jacksepticeye said: “They are a 10, but thought this tweet would be a good idea”, and I can tell you that EA has been totally ratioed by the reply, which has (at time of writing) approximately seven times as much engagement than the original tweet. Big L for EA here.
It’s not a huge L, because there is no bad press. We are all talking about EA and they have not deleted the tweet. Who are the fools? Well, it’s EA. In a follow-up tweet, they wrote, “Roast well earned.” We’ll take the L because playing single-player games actually makes them an 11.
