HBO Max is making an ‘It’ Prequel TV Series
Stephen King’s epic 1,000-page novel has been adapted for the screen several times. Most recently, two movies were made that focus on the two acts of the book.
The story of seven children, who call themselves the Losers’ Club, is told in the first film. The group comes together to defeat It, an evil entity that can shapeshift and is the film’s title. It is most often depicted as Pennywise, the clown, although it can be seen as many other people, monsters, and things throughout the movie. The second act sees the group reunite as adults to defeat It once more.
King wrote the story, and it was completed in the two films. But Warner Bros. wants to tell a new report based on the world. According to Variety, a TV series is in development. It will follow the story of the first film. The series’ current title is Welcome to Derry. It is expected that it will take place in the 1960s.
Although no details of the story have been released, they must be set before the birth of the original Losers Club members, as shown in the two movies. Andy Muschietti has been reappointed as executive producer. Muschietti will be working with his sister Barbara and Jason Fuchs to develop the story. Fuchs, who wrote the script for 2017’s Wonder Woman, was also involved.
Although it is uncertain if the project will be approved, Muschietti is scheduled to direct the first episode. This series will be part of HBO Max’s streaming service. The HBO Max streaming service has already made moves with a few Warner Bros. movies for TV adaptations. An earlier announcement indicated that Colin Farrell’s Penguin version might be back for his HBO Max miniseries.
