Garuda Prime Cuts in Warframe Today, Alongside a bunch of Free Stuff

Garuda Prime Access — basically, a period in which players can purchase the titular character in Warframe – starts today. This coincides with the nine-year anniversary of the free-to–player shooter. This means everyone gets free stuff! All who log in between March 28th and April 25 will receive free stuff. Warframe hosts five weekly “Alerts”, which give away things like skins and weapon slots. To get your individual items from the collection, you will need to log in every week during this period. Below is the Digital Extremes calendar.

Garuda Prime will, however, set you back quite a bit. The cheapest bundle that includes the “gore-powered character” is $80 USD, just like other Prime Access offerings. There are two options: a $50 bundle which includes her weapons, and a $140 bundle that includes a lot of additional goodies. You still get the game for free. Even so, it’s still a high asking price. You get a lot of in-game currency, platinum, at a much lower price than you would normally pay, and you also get a shiny new Cyborg and her gear.

My personal recommendation is to only buy one $80 pack while you’re still beginning Warframe. But after you are sure that you want to continue playing. This is a great way to get past some of the frustrating quality-of-life restrictions that Platinum imposes. This includes weapon slots. I will probably log in during those first three weeks. I have been on the Warframe train, playing Elden Ring as well as Final Fantasy XIV lately. But those in game player apartments are making me curious. The story stuff that Digital Extremes created with The New War is also something I like. I was just looking for another reason to play beyond that point.

Garuda Prime is another reason to do this. For me at least. It is possible to get the characters you need in-game by purchasing one Prim Access pass. It’s free! It’s not difficult. This grind is part the core gameplay loop in Warframe. This is not for everyone. I enjoy a good, relaxing grind every now and then (between games such as Elden Ring or FXIV). If you aren’t sure what frame you want, you can always give in and add another $80.

Even though they are less exciting, the events provide another opportunity to learn how to play the extremely complex game between now-the next update: Angels of the Zariman. Digital Extremes seems to be banking on this kind of thinking process as well. This is what they do almost every time I go to them.
