After Total War was launched, the most contentious issue was the addition of denuvo anti-tamper software. This software’s supposed effect on the performance. A large portion of the players was having difficulty running the title, and a few people who had reviewed copies claimed that the game ran even worse after one patch was released.

It was speculated that Denuvo wasn’t in Total War: Warhammer 3’s review build negatively affected its performance. Creative Assembly, a developer, clarified today in a Steam post that this was false and said they are currently investigating if the software had any adverse effects on the game.

Denuvo, according to the developer, was in Total War: Warhammer 3’s review build. However, the reason why performance has been declining after launch “is something that we are actively working on understanding.”

It also noted that the software had been used in previous Total War games and suggested that there may be another factor to the problem.

Creative Assembly describes Denuvo’s effect on Total War III’s performance in Total War: Warhammer III as “not yet conclusive,” but is “*extensively* evaluating the product to determine its full impact.”

These tests are currently underway. The developer also shared hotfix plans to address the grand strategy game’s issues and other issues.

A small hotfix has already been deployed. The second will be live in a few weeks. It is expected that the game’s first significant gameplay balance patch will be released in the early part of next month.

Total War: Warhammer 3 is now available for PC. It can be purchased at Fanatical and other major stores and Xbox Game Pass.
