The NFL has some big news. The Washington franchise, known for the past 20 months as Washington Football Team, is now the Washington Commanders. We like this new name.

What does this mean for Madden 22? Since we have known about the WFT for quite some time, we expect EA to quickly make the necessary changes to incorporate Washington’s new branding in the game. It is unlikely that they only recently discovered about it and have likely been able to work with it for some time while under NDA.

We may need to wait until Madden 23 for this information, but it is possible. EA has yet to comment on the matter, but fans are clamouring to find out what’s happening and when it will all happen in-game.

Update: Unconfirmed, but Apptrigger reports that they have received confirmation from EA that the Commanders will not arrive in Madden before Madden 23. If confirmed, we will update you.

Fans will likely expect to wait until the new Madden video game is released towards the end. This is an unusual problem for the publisher, as they want to be at the forefront of this historic shift.

Also, John Madden, the legend behind the franchise, has passed away recently. EA may be considering a tribute to him in Madden 23, which EA could also plan. It would be wonderful to have the man who is the biggest star in the next game.
