The Walking Dead Games of All Time
The Walking Dead has become one of the most beloved entertainment franchises over the past decade. The finale of The Walking Dead’s long-running AMC series is just around the corner. This makes it a great time to reflect on some of the greatest The Walking Dead games.
The Walking Dead’s digital side is as exciting as the show’s stalwarts at Telltale and the lesser-known adaptations of the comic series. Lucky for us, we have ranked in the top 10 to help fans make some decisions.
Overkill’s The Walking Dead
Maybe you should call it “Best Walking Dead Games” for now, but with the emphasis on the quotation marks. Although these first few won’t set your world ablaze, others in The Walking Dead games are pure vaporware.
The Overkill was poorly received and considered both passable and utterly unacceptable by many. Overkill was plagued by slow load times, poor matchmaking and low-quality graphics. It also featured a lot of glitches and difficulty spikes. As far as tie-ins, there weren’t any characters from the show.
Although the gunplay was good enough, it would be difficult for most walkers to keep this one going for long. They can’t even use it now unless they purchased it the first time.
The Walking Dead: Onslaught
We now move on to the middle-of-the-road entries. The Walking Dead: Onslaught may not have the same thrills and chills as the other VR games on this list, but it offers a faithful recreation and exploration of the characters and locations from AMC’s show and plenty of fan service for those who love the franchise.
This one could be higher up if Saints and Sinners hadn’t set such high standards. The Walking Dead: Onslaught, as it stands, is quite likeable, but it doesn’t offer anything more than a fanfiction-style version of the show from which it takes its name.
It does, however, have some stirring performances by the actors.
The Escapists: The Walking Dead
The Escapists’ top-down, puzzle-solving RPG format is a good fit for The Walking Dead spinoff. The Escapists: The Walking Dead makes the most of the 8-bit license and allows Rick Grimes’ pixelated characters to fight, outwit and escape the undead hordes. This is a lighter-hearted version of the franchise.
You must find an escape route that is unencumbered through the zombie-infested areas. This is an excellent place to start for long-time fans of The Escapists or any of its other versions.
The Walking Dead: Bridge Constructor
Bridge Constructor is the silly, physics-based entertainment that the indie market is famous for. Adding The Walking Dead to the series only makes it more exciting and fun. Bridge Constructor, The Walking Dead offers tons of strategic fun with walker based complications and occasional interruptions by hostile human factions.
AMC’s characters and vehicles join the fun. There is almost nothing more satisfying than watching the ragdoll zombies plummet to their deaths as a bridge collapses beneath their collective weight. Are you looking for some insane in your zombie-based strategy video game? Bridge Constructor The Walking Dead is a suitable game for you.
Michonne, The Walking Dead
We’re now in the beloved Walking Dead games by Telltale. These games are often considered the best Walking Dead game. However, there’s one that must be at the bottom of this heap: The Walking Dead: Michonne. These games have been accused of being miserable-porn, but Michonne elevates that misery to an entirely new level.
It is also shorter than any Telltale Walking Dead game. This means it can make an enormous impact. Michonne, another Telltale game that uses the famous Telltale formula, allows you to explore past events of the fan-favourite titular badass. This is enough for many to justify the admission price.
