“The Matrix Resurrections”: Was it Role research for Keanu Reeves?”

Keanu Reeves walked on stage at E3 2019 to discuss, which is still one of the most memorable moments in videogame history. His in-game character, who urged us all to “Wake up,” responded to a loud compliment by the audience with “You’re absolutely breathtaking!” You are all amazing!

This is a moment that I will never forget. But, after seeing the Matrix Resurrections, I have a new understanding of the experience. What if Keanu was the research person for his new movie? We’ll spare you the spoilers, so don’t read any further unless you are okay with it.

Neo, a videogame developer, is working on The Matrix Resurrections when he’s thrown around by a group marketing staff as a rabbit in the wolf den. Our protagonist seems increasingly disenfranchised and almost confused by each suggestion made.

Neo’s mishandling of Neo’s game by his friends seems real, especially for a highly-publicized game in 2020. Keanu Reeves was the one in that game? It was the one that published said he loved. But, before Reeves declared that is still not his favorite?

Keanu Reeves did not take the role of Johnny Silverhand because he knew it would be a huge success. I am asking if he took the role to learn more about game development for The Matrix Resurrections.

Did Keanu take the lessons he learned at CD Projekt RED to apply them in his latest Matrix film performance? The two situations are very similar and Keanu has used real life experiences for his work before. Keanu Reeves used real life experience even in 1986’s Youngblood.

It is clear that Cyberpunk 2077 was a disaster. There were reports of developers being mistreated. Keanu Reeves’ portrayal of Neo in The Matrix Resurrections could have been partially inspired by CD Projekt’s story. Keanu was there at the time, so it’s possible that he knew a lot. It could also be coincidence.
