If you are absolutely required to board spaceships that have a lot of Screws, don’t. You can avoid them by docking at ships without Screws.
DOCK IN EASIER SPACESHIPS
You can make your life easier in Void Bastards if you dock at simpler ships. Information sidebars on selected spaceships will show you which enemies and how many you’ll face each one. You should always check the enemy information on spaceships to be sure you know what you are up against. Choose to board spaceships that have fewer enemies, such as Janitors and Tourists. Spaceships with only Tourists will be your easiest enemy in Void: Bastards.

GRAB SOME TORPEDOES AND DEAL WITH VOID WALES AND PIRATES
Space pirates and Void Whales can cause problems in Void Bastards. Void Whales can kill you instantly if they intercept you on the map. Although pirates are not as bad as they sound, they can attach themselves to your ship to stop you moving. You can only get moving again by removing the anchors from any spaceships that are docked at. You can also be killed by pirates if you don’t remove the anchors from the spaceships.
Avoid pirates and Void Whales at all cost. To do this, grab some torpedoes and fire at any ships that have them. Torpedoes can be used to kill pirates and Void Whales who try to catch you. To find stations that have torpedoes, check the information sidebars.

RETRACT FROM SPACESHIPS IF YOU’RE LOW IN HEALTH
All your equipment will be kept if you are killed. Your ammunition and merits will be lost. You can’t afford getting killed too often. Spaceships should be avoided if your health is poor. This will ensure that you live longer. It is a good rule of thumb to always leave a spaceship if your health falls below 100.
GET ENEMY LOCATION INFORMATION AT THE HELM
On spaceships that dock at the helm, you must always go to the helm. You can access loot locations information for all ships from the helm rooms. This is important information as the large stars will show you where crafting parts are located, which you’ll need throughout the game.
For a small amount of merits, you can also download enemy locations information. It is very useful in Void bastards as it will tell you where all hostiles are located on the map. This information will allow you to avoid dangerous areas where you might be attacked by many enemies. It’s worth spending a little bit of money to get enemy location information.
UTILIZE THE RADIOSPIKER AGAINST PATIENTS
If you don’t know what to do with patients, they can be difficult foes. They are resistant to most guns and the Zapper. Rad Spiker can be used to shoot radiation at Patients. The radiation from that weapon will quickly kill them.

CRAFT HUNTER DEVICE ITEMS CAN AMASS MORE AMMO
To survive, you need to have enough ammunition. Craft hunter items can be used to increase the amount of ammunition at stations. These items allow you to find more ammunition and other gear in specific locations at stations. With the Zap Hunter equipped, you can also collect Zap Charges from generators. You can also pick up bullets from spaceships’ hab modules if you have a Bullet Hunter. It is important to make hunter items in order to keep your supplies up-to-date with bullets and charges, grenades as well as staples, staples, bushwhackers and other necessities.
