Zack Snyder Teases ‘Justice League’: Final Crisis

Fans have been waiting eagerly for Zack Snyder’s Justice League earlier this year to be released.

Snyder has made it clear that Justice League is far from the end. It’s a continuation of an ambitious story that began in 2013 with Man Of Steel. You’ll be able to see that Snyder has many ideas left if you make it through the four-hour-long superhero team-up movie.

While there has been much debate about whether Snyder will be allowed to return to these characters by Warner Bros., Snyder himself recently sent fans into a frenzy with a Thanksgiving social-media post that seemed to hint at a new DC project.

At first glance, the post seemed innocent enough. Snyder posted a video of himself eating Thanksgiving turkey on Vero with the caption “thankful.” It was very festive. But, eagle-eyed supporters were quick to spot a copy of Grant Morrison’s Absolute Final Crisis in the background with a pair of notebooks resting on it. That’s pretty darn sus if you ask me.

Absolute Final Crisis is a 2008 “event” comic in which Darkseid, his followers, and the universe are defeated.

“Superman, Batman and the Justice League must face Darkseid and his otherworldly legion in the war against light and darkness,” says the official synopsis.

There are many similarities between the events in Absolute Final Crisis and the “Knightmare” sequences in Zack Snyder’s Justice League. He is starting with the fact that both heroes have lost and Darkseid has the upper hand. Snyder wanted to explore this theme in his sequel. In Morrison’s storey, Batman is also killed fighting Darkseid.

We also know Snyder planned to explore the post-apocalyptic universe further in a sequel. This would make Absolute Final Crisis the perfect story to learn from.

It is unclear if Justice League Part Two will ever take place exactly as Snyder intends. However, I don’t think those notes were meant to be viewed as anything but a show. This makes it clear that Snyder is available to leave the moment Warner Bros. contacts him. Let’s hope that he does get the call.
