Is the Last Stand: Aftermath OpenWorld?
Aftermath is a potential new game that will be a major hit in 2021. But does it follow the most popular gaming trend and take the open-world route?
The Last Stand: Aftermath does not have an open world. The Last Stand: Aftermath is somewhat similar to State of Decay but has many smaller sandboxes that players can explore as they travel to “The End”. The Last Stand: Aftermath actually looks more like the Zombie, but it has far more variety, randomness and an isometric view rather than first-person.
Players start out as a random survivor and then embark on a journey to seek supplies and explore the ruins of the world. These stops allow players to explore the suburbs and find supermarkets. Although each sandbox is made up of only a few houses, they are usually filled with things to find. It doesn’t matter if you can’t survive, it’s okay.
The Last Stand: The Aftermath’s lack of an open world may put off some players, but it doesn’t have to. A strong story might not work in an open world. The game’s roguelite nature also means that no run is the same. It might not work in an open world because of the game’s rotating cast.
