SKYWARD SWORD HD Sales MILESTONE TOPS WII LIFE SALES
The Legend of Zelda HD just beats the original Wii’s lifetime sales. The latest earnings report from Nintendo states that the Nintendo Switch version has sold approximately 3.6 million units by September 30th. The original Wii version sold 3.67 million units. This milestone was reached in just a few months. It seems that Nintendo made a smart move by bringing this adventure to Switch.
The Wii U’s final year of existence saw the original game launch in November 2011. A year later, the Wii U was released. This led to a period of poor marketing for Nintendo. Although the Wii U was not a terrible console, it suffered from poor marketing. The Legend of Zelda HD has resurrected the Wii adventure with many new enhancements.
Skyward Sword HD certainly isn’t the first older game to perform well on the Switch. Sales data from other games shows Mario Kart8 Deluxe having sold 38.74 millions copies. Animal Crossing – New Horizons sold 34.85 millions units. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is third with 25.71 millions copies sold. The Legend of Zelda – Breath of the Wild is in fourth place with 24.13 million copies sold. The top five are completed by Pokemon Sword, Pokemon Shield and Pokemon Shield. Together they have sold 22.64 millions copies.
