Darkest Dungeon 2 – How to Defeat The Brain of Darkness
In true adventure game style, Blackest Dungeon 2‘s Chapter I finale sees the hero team face off against one boss before moving on to the next stage. The Brain of Darkness chapter boss perfectly represents the central theme of this game, which is about breaking through grief and holding on to hope.
This is everything you need about the Brain of Darkness, Darkest Dungeon 2.
Brain of Darkness Attacks and Abilities
The Brain of Darkness is a gigantic human brain that has been enslaved by many locks, chains and restraints. These are all metaphors for the paralyzing effects of grief. Players will have to remove each of the following four locks during this engagement: Bolt, Shackle, Padlock, Wasting, Latch of Regret, and Shackle of Despair.
Each lock has a basic attack ability as well as a special ability negating ability that prevents specific attacks or spells from being activated. This negating ability is cast at the beginning of each turn. It cannot be countered and can even be destroyed by the lock that activated it.
Brain of Darkness Strategy Tips
Focusing damage on one lock at the time is a winning strategy to defeat the Brain of Darkness. This includes whichever lock shuts down the party’s most common ability.
It may be a good idea to equip all characters with different skills in preparation for the fight. This will ensure that, regardless of which ability lock is in place, each hero can do at least some damage.
After all locks have been destroyed, the player is declared the winner and Chapter 1 is completed.
Flexibility is key to engaging the Brain of Darkness, just like the battle against the Librarian. To place too much emphasis on one aspect of a character’s abilities will lead to paralysis and render them useless in combat. This is just like the brain that the party is trying free.
